The Echo Path and the Hybrid
Two-to-Four-Wire Conversion, Acoustic Coupling and Path Models
Echo is not a defect but a reflection that the circuit joining two wires to four necessarily produces. This volume separates line echo, caused by hybrid mismatch, from acoustic echo, produced at the terminal, and formulates each. It implements the procedures for measuring a path's impulse response, its return loss and its delay, and can generate the standard test paths verbatim so that the canceller of the next volume can be judged on level ground.
