Caller identification arrives as a 1200 bit/s modulated wave inside the voice band. This volume implements frequency-shift keying in both directions and compares three demodulators — delay detection, zero crossing and quadrature — on identical input. Bell 202 in North America, V.23 in Europe and the Japanese method differ in tone assignment and in framing; the volume shows how those differences reach the demodulator, measured as bit error rate against signal-to-noise ratio.
